Vennsquidink / Jen Saunders – writes songs, stories, essays and poetry.

2025 and a nonfiction piece – ‘Calibrating’ – is in Island magazine 175!  The poem ‘That’s That’ was shortlisted in the inaugural Robert Gray Prize for Poetry and later this year the poem will appear alongside the fifty other works shortlisted, in the anthology Oystercatcher (and you can listen to Judith Beveridge read her winning poem ‘The Octopus’, along with the commended poems).

In 2024 I was delighted to win the South Coast Writers Centre Poetry award with this poem: ‘A Kiting of Spiders‘.

In 2017 I shortlisted in the Peter Porter Poetry Prize and in 2016 shortlisted in the joanne burns MicroLit Award.
